ORDER! ORDER! ORDER!
On the 21st of October, 9 Creators convened, the first mock trial held in ISWKI, in
the presence of an audience and honorary Principal sir; the trial was one of murder.
The trial debated the circumstances of the night of the murder, with the legal
process being similar to the actual legal proceedings in the United States of America.
The class took part in depositions (an interview of witnesses under oath), made
subpoenas (court order to provide evidence), creating fact files about various people
involved, and also wrote an extensive narrative with evidence to support it, while
acting it all out, as it would in real life. All in all, this activity brought to the forefront,
their eloquent speaking ability, creativity, narrative writing, building up character,
facing audience while speaking impromptu, amongst various skill set learnt as first
language English learners of ISWKi.
To brief the case- An unsuccessful surgery took place, where the accused’s daughter
had died. There were two doctors who conducted the surgery on Reeti’s (accused)
daughter, one of whom was the victim. A week later, one of the doctors was killed
after midnight. Security footage showed that there was a person standing in front of
the doctor’s gate, holding a handgun, dressed in black wearing a mask. The crime was
reported by the doctor’s servant, a few minutes after the death.
