Tribute to Lata Mangeshkar
Lata Mangeshkar is no more but for billions of people who heard her sing she is alive and will live on
through her voice and her love for her country. The 92-year-old singer was laid to rest at Mumbai’s
Shivaji Park with full state honours.
Lata Mangeshkar enthralled generations of Bollywood audiences as the singing voice behind many
actresses’ performances, is regarded as one of Indian cinema's greatest playback singers. She started
her career at the age of 13 in 1942 and has sung over 30,000 songs in various Indian languages.
ISWKi planned a tribute on MONDAY 21st February, 2022, under the guidance of Mr. Sanjay Tiwari,
the Head of ISWKi. He paid a unique tribute to the ‘Nightingale of India’ with a beautiful message from
the song which Lata Mangeshkar herself sang - ‘Naam gum jayega, chehra ye badal jayega..Meri awaaz
hi pehchaan hain, gar yaad rahe’ and singing her most favourite songs.
The educators also expressed their tribute with a dance and songs.
Beyond films, she was always passionate about India’s growth irrespective of boundaries in all fields.
Her contribution towards the upliftment of Indian schools and temples in Oman was highly appreciated
from bottom of his heart by Shri. Kiran Asher in his tribute speech to Lata Manageshkar . She always
wanted to see a strong and developed India.
The coming generations will always remember her as a stalwart of Indian culture, whose melodious
voice had an unparalleled ability to mesmerise people.
