Random Act of Kindness

At ISWKi, our kind learners celebrated the Random act of kindness week from 20th Feb to 24th Feb.
Random Acts of Kindness Week falls to consider being kind every day as theme of the year says “Make
             kindness a norm”.

Do you want to be a "RAKtivist," or a Random Acts of Kindness activist?
Spreading kindness not only helps others feel better about themselves -- it can also boost the giver's health
and happiness, according to research. It's a win-win for all.
             Here's why.
Putting the well-being of others before our own without expecting anything in return -- or what is called being
altruistic -- stimulates the reward centers of the brain, studies show. Those feel-good chemicals flood our
system, producing a sort of "helper's high."
Volunteering, for example, has been shown to minimize stress and improve depression. But that's not all, the
same activity can also reduce the risk for cognitive impairment and even help us live longer. One reason for
this, experts say, is because kindness contributes to our sense of community and belonging. And that, studies
have found, is a key contributor to a healthy, longer life.

Who wouldn’t want that for their learners?
I think we can all agree that a little kindness goes a long way in our world, in our school, homes, and in our
lives. But in order to raise kids who are kind, we need to value it, model it, celebrate it.

Team ISWKi had organized various activities grade wise wherein learners were involved actively in various
activities throughout the week. Starting with an introductory video on kindness, they learned social and
emotional skills by performing different activities like role play, making of greeting cards, note to self - ‘I am
kind’, card to a friend- ‘You are kind’, thank you note for the support staff, sharing things for the people who
provide us services for our well-being. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all learners and
parents for joining their hands in this great cause.
