SUMMER FIESTA
“Summertime is always the best of what might be”. - Charles Bowden
Summer Fiesta ushers in a wave of freshness and a fun-filled learning
environment amidst the scorching heat of summer. Summer months are
here and so are rising temperatures. It’s sweltering, muggy and arid here
in Muscat. To make the heat tolerable and to have some fun in the sun,
we planned few activities for the Summer Fiesta. Refreshing lemonade,
delicious and healthy fruits, yummy ice-creams and exciting activities
make it the most awaited season of the year.
The Kindergartners at ISWK Cambridge International School made the
most of it by celebrating Summer Fiesta, a week long festival virtually.
The celebrations started with learners learning about summer season.
They understood the importance of summer and the essence of Vitamin
D in our lives. They also learnt to keep water for birds and stray cats and
do their bit for the environment. This was followed by lemonade making
activity where the educators guided them to make refreshing lemonades
for themselves and their family members and virtually share with their
classmates. The next day, not only the learners enjoyed eating summer
fruits like, mangoes, musk melons and water melons but also learnt to
make Watermelon fan - a DIY activity, which was highly enjoyable. The
kids understood the traditional way of using the hand fan and keeping
ourselves cool in the scorching heat.
The fiesta ended with the learners going on a virtual picnic together. It
was mesmerizing to see them donning colourful summer clothes, fancy
hats and their favourite sun-glasses and enjoying their last day of school
before the summer-break with their classmates.
