Make-A-Bookmark

Group A activity

Books are an most important and valuable possession that need good care and
hence they last a lifetime. They are an important marking tool that will ensure that
your books remain in good condition. Moreover, with bookmarks, kids will be able
to keep a track of their reading activities and quickly return to the page where

their reading session ended.

A bookmark is a thin marking tool, commonly made of card, leather, or any other
fabric. The earliest existing bookmark dates to the 6th century AD. Bookmarks
were used throughout the medieval period. Modern bookmarks are available in a

huge variety of materials in a multitude of designs and styles.

Colorful, and quirky bookmarks will encourage your kids to take good care of

their books and maintain them well. To mark the occasion it we came up with a
simple and creative activity learners can bookmark on. The aim of this activity was
not only to make the learners creative but also to help them develop regular
reading habits/ create awareness of reading.

We had one orientation session where the learners were explained the
importance of bookmarks. They were also shown pictures and videos on how to
create them. As a follow-up, we had two practice sessions where the learners

tried creating bookmarks with the example shown. At the end of October, we had
a Bookmark making activity session for our learners of Grades 1 & 2. The learners
came up with exceptional ideas and it was exemplary to see a wild variety of
bookmarks.
